These days it seems that more and more people will just let their dogs run wild, even when there are people around. The other day I was walking right outside my home with my small dog. Several huge dogs came running up and tried to get to my small dog. The owner is yelling that they are friendly but it certainly did not seem that way to me or my dog. The dog did scratch me several time before the owner came and dragged their dogs off of us. It could have been worst. Sacramento Dog Bite
Why is it that so many people walk their dogs with out a leash, they will often tell you, "They are friendly" and the next thing you know their "dog" or "dogs" are running at you at full speed! Most of the time the results end good, where their dog or dogs are friendly. But this is not always the case, there have been times where their dog was not friendly to me or my dog. When dogs get out of control and attack the results can be pretty serious, by the time the owner catches up with his or her dog the damage is often done. If you or some one you know has been attacked by a dog please call Injury Attorney Todd Bissell at 916-458-4244 for a free consultation.

A Mastor with No Control
Have you ever been out on a walk and see someone supposedly walking their dog, but it's really the dog walking their master. These dogs occasionally can be very protective of their owners; a simple step the wrong way or anything done that may startle the dog can set it into defense mode cause it to attack and bite. This isn't the dogs fault, it's their masters for not properly training their dog. In this type of situation people can push it off as "just an accident", and avoid an financial compensation. This is unjust! If someone carelessly drives their vehicle causing an accident they are entirely at fault. It is the same way with dogs. If you have been bit by a dog it may be a good idea to contact an attorney with experience in the area of dog attacks. If you are in the greater Sacramento area there is no better choice than Todd S. Bissell. Todd has several years experience dealing with animal attack cases and you can be sure when Todd Bissell is working for you that you will get all that you deserve. Annoying or Viscous?
Your neighbor has always had a dog that drove you nuts: barking all night long and leaving you little surprises on your front lawn. But you never thought it was dangerous. Until one day when you are riding by on your bike and there it comes full force to attack you. This can be a very traumatic experience and depending on the condition of the dog, life threatening. This is not your fault or even the dogs fault, it is the owner of the dog who is responsible. And they should be the one to pay for hospital visits and/or other expenses. If you have been bitten by a dog give Todd Bissell a call at 916 458-4244. People vs Animal Attacks
Factors related to attack incidents Dog behavior Sources of aggression include: Dominance. Dogs as pack animals will often seek to dominate others in their pack or family (acquire more status and authority) if they feel they are able. A dog that seeks to dominate may use aggression as a means to elevate its perceived power and authority, or to make others respect its wishes and not challenge it. Pet owners are generally encouraged to not allow a dog to become overly dominant due to the aggressive behavior that may result. Dominance may include "pushy" behavior, refusal to show respect or obedience to humans, attempted "ownership" of high status locations such as beds, sofas, or doorways, and in general, any type of behavior the animal sees as furthering a dominant social role.
Fear and self-defense. Like humans, dogs react when fearful, and may feel driven to attack out of self defense, even when not in fact being "attacked". Speed of movement, noises, objects or specific gestures such as raising an arm or standing up may elicit a reaction. Many rescued dogs have been abused, and in some dogs, specific fears of men, women, skin coloring, and other features that recall past abusers, are not uncommon. A dog that feels cornered or without recourse may attack the human who is threatening or attacking it. A dog may also perceive a hand reached out toward its head as an attempt to gain control of the dog's neck via the collar, which if done to a wary dog by a stranger can easily provoke a bite, from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia.

Failure To Follow Up Promptly
#9 Fail To Follow Up Promptly With Necessary Medical Care. Most ER or Urgent care doctors will advise you to follow up with your family doctor if you continue to feel symptoms after a few days. Do so. If you do not, any insurance company, and likely any juror will conclude that you are fine. If you are not fine, you need to be treated. Studies show that accident victims who treated aggressively after an accident healed better and quicker than those who waited around thinking that they would get better on their own. By the time that you realize that you are not healing, you may have worsened your injury and damaged your claim. Questions? Ask Attorney Todd Bissell at 916 458-4244

Mistake #7. Give a Statement to Any Insurance Company
Neither the other driver's insurance company nor yours is your friend or neighbor. The written or recorded statement that they will ask you to provide will be used against you. They will ask you to provide information that is personal and confidential and which you do not need to provide. Protect yourself by NOT talking to them.

Sacramento Dog Bites
Dogs, like wolves, remain cunning, swift, agile, strong, territorial, and voracious despite domestication; even small ones have large, sharp teeth and claws and powerful muscles in their jaws and legs, and can inflict serious injuries. The lacerations even from inadvertent dog scratches, let alone deliberate or reckless bites, are easily infected. Large dogs can knock people down with the usual effects of falls from other causes. - Wikipedia. Need Help? Call Attorney Todd Bissell 916 458-4244.

The 10 Biggest Mistakes You Can Make After A Car Accident:
6. FAIL TO REPORT EVERY ACHE AND PAIN TO THE DOCTOR. Do not overlook or dismiss any of your symptoms no matter how small. Report every ache and pain to every body part involved in the accident to the emergency room doctor or urgent care physician. If your primary complaint is neck pain, do not fail to report a sore elbow that slammed into the driver's door. Your neck may heal in a few months, but you may also need an elbow surgery six months after the accident. If you have not reported it until your neck heals, surely the other driver's insurance company, and likely any jury at trial, will not connect the dots and find that the elbow was hurt in the accident. Report everything. 10 Biggest Mistakes

The Other Driver Ran A Red Light
"The other driver was elderly and ran a red light when he crashed into my car. He told the police that he did not know what color the light was. He later changed his story and sued me, saying that I ran the red light! Because there were no witnesses, his insurance company refused to pay for my totaled car or for my injuries. My first attorney then dropped my case. My doctor recommended Todd Bissell who agreed to take on my case. Todd fought hard for me and took my case all the way to trial. After Todd won our pre-trial motions, the insurance company got reasonable and we were able to settle the case. Thanks Todd for sticking with me when my other attorney gave up on me."

Sacramento Dog Attacks
Dog attacks are attacks on humans by feral or domestic dogs. Dog attacks often occur because of the close proximity of dogs to people, and such attacks have become the focus of increasing media and public attention in the late 20th and early 21st centuries. It is estimated that two percent of the US population, 4.7 million people, are bitten each year. In the 1980s and 1990s the US averaged 17 fatalities per year, while in the 2000s this has increased to 26. 77% of dog bites are from the pet of family or friends, and 50% of attacks occur on the dog owner's property. - Wikipedia

Study: Chihuahuas most likely to bite
By Suzanne Sparhawk Sunday, August 16, 2009
This country celebrates National Dog Bite Prevention Week every year in May. During that time various organizations post helpful tips on how to protect yourself and your children from being bitten, along with a variety of graphic stories about individuals who had been attacked by dogs. Generally, we see nothing about the simple prevention methods of training and socializing dogs, or training children to interact safely with them.
